Beginning any of my photography project I usually have an idea in mind I want to pursue...... it never turns out how I had it in mind. So, the first test shoot is always disheartening but you have to start somewhere. With that in mind, I took my camera and tripod into my back garden to test some shots of me in my father's clothing.

Now I have never shot self-portraits before and it was a lot harder than I imagined. Being a visual person, I tend to shoot a lot by looking through the view finder and placing my subject in different spaces/poses. However, with self-portrait you cannot do so.

DECONSTRUCTION

I chose to shoot at the end of the day as the sun was setting for the evening this casted a lovely golden tone to some images. This lighting is initially what I wanted however, on overview there is something missing. Perhaps that my pose, the message of it being someone else cloths? I'm not sure so I decided to desaturate the images and they feel very different. By removing the colour from the frames, it creates a more serious look, the colour feel too playful.

Above are three simple editing stages to alter my photograph. Firstly, I have cropped into the photo enlarging me hiding within the jumper. the second is desaturating the image and enhancing the shadows and highlights captured.
